These are quite unlike most of my work, and were written almost as stream of consciousness works at roughly 1,000 words a day over a period of months. The structure is very straightforward, and the three volumes represent a chronological depiction of my three-year convalescence. The books helped me stay afloat when I could have been sinking, and gave exercise to my writing muscle, which needed it. There is rollicking good humour, heartbreak and morphine -inflected nonsense that was largely beyond my control. But all my readers seem to have enjoyed it. Give it a go.
